Al Baraka Islamic Bank Organizes a Blood Donation Drive in Collaboration with Medgulf Takaful and Bahrain Defense Force Royal Medical Services Hospital

 In conjunction with the International Blood Donation Day that falls on June 14th every year, and in line with the Bank’s corporate responsibility dedicated to strengthening its partnership with the society, Al Baraka Islamic Bank (AIB), one of the leading Bahraini financial institutions in the field of Islamic banking held a blood donation campaign at its headquarters in Bahrain Bay, in association with Medgulf Takaful Insurance company and the Bahrain Defense Force Royal Medical Services Hospital.

The event was initiated as part of the Bank’s efforts to support local community initiatives and shed light on the different approaches to support the healthcare sector. More than 100 staff members from Al Baraka Islamic Bank and Medgulf Takaful participated in the event and donated 50 units of blood.

Commenting on the occasion, the CEO of Al Baraka Islamic Bank, Mr. Hamad Abdullah Al Oqab said: "Al Baraka Islamic Bank continues to be a leader in supporting the Bahraini community through series of effective initiatives that reflect the leading role of the Bank’s responsibility and sustainable development program. Thus, we pledge to continue supporting these activities and we thank every employee volunteered in this event. Furthermore, appreciation is owed to the Blood Bank of the Bahrain Defense Force Royal Medical Services Hospital as well as Medgulf Takaful for playing a vital part towards the success of this humanitarian campaign”.

"Blood donation is a noble expression of community support as one blood donation can save as many as three lives, and we are proud to organize this event in collaboration with Al Baraka Islamic Bank, the Bahrain Defense Force Royal Medical Services Hospital and NextCare to draw attention to the role that blood donation plays in saving lives and strengthening solidarity within societies. Through this initiative, we hope to play an important role in promoting safe and sustainable blood-donation programs”, said the CEO of Medgulf Takaful Mr. Nader Saeed Al Mandeel.

Dr. Abdullah Darwish; Consultant and head of laboratory departments at Bahrain Defense Force Royal Medical Services Hospital: This year, the World Blood Donor Day slogan is Donating blood is an act of solidarity. Join the effort and save lives, aims to draw attention to the roles that voluntary blood donations play in saving lives and enhancing solidarity within communities, hence we encourage donors, particularly individuals with rare blood types, to ensure that adequate unit supplies of their blood types are available with hospitals throughout our community. And we are pleased to share the effort with Al Baraka Islamic Bank and serve our community in this way".
